DISAGREEMENTS BETWEEN LORDS AND COMMONS With non-controversial Bills, the Commons usually accepts the Lords' amendments. However, sometimes the disagreement runs deeper, and the Commons then sends the Bill back to the Lords, with an explanation. The Bill may pass to and fro between the Houses for some while before agreement is reached. If a compromise could not be reached, the Commons would eventually get their way by re-introducing the Bill the following year. In practice the Lords do their best to avoid this delay by seeking a satisfactory solution.
